Three Ways Biden Avoids Debating
Whether or not Joe Biden wants to debate Donald Trump, or understands the danger to his campaign if he does, is anyone's guess. But a little common sense tells us that Biden's team (his handlers and the MSM) will try to avoid these debates. We have already seen Thomas Friedman lay the foundation for Biden to avoid a showdown and we will, no doubt, be hearing more of the same from across the liberal news landscape in the weeks to come. Ultimately, though, if Biden is to opt out, it will need to be for something bigger and better than Trump's tax returns.

They also need to consider the optics of Biden appearing to be afraid of debates. It will be far less damaging for him if there is not a pattern of avoidance, but a single event that is easily explained away. So, first, put the idea of three debates out of your mind. Negotiations will limit this to one debate. The Biden team will muddy the process when negotiating terms. They will drag out the process and pretend that it is Trump that is being unreasonable, that it is Trump who is scared to debate. They will run out the clock, at which point they will agree to a single debate. And once a single debate date has been set, work will begin to eliminate that one event.

Below are three paths the Biden campaign might take. Granted, they are a bit "out there" and would require some coordination with the media, but that is a given.

1: "I won't be complicit in him not doing his job."
The rioting we've seen across the country has been described by the media--despite our history being assaulted, property destroyed, and lives lost--as peaceful, because describing it as peaceful helps their cause. But what if describing it as dangerous for the country, and its citizens, helped their cause? With the country in danger, and people being brutally beaten and killed--on full display, Joe Biden would have the moral obligation to not take up one minute of Trump's time. "Get to work," he'll say. "People are dying. This is no time for the president to be worrying about politics. I won't be complicit in him not doing his job."

2: "I'm not going to dignify him by being on the same stage as him."
Very soon, Trump will likely say something racist. Let me rephrase that. Very soon, Trump will likely say something not racist. The media and Democratic party will take the statement--whichever random one they choose--out of context and twist it. Presto. Instant racism. In the face of this blatant racism and its 24/7 wall-to-wall coverage, Joe "I don't want my kids to grow up in a racial jungle" Biden, will be so utterly disgusted that he will declare "I'm not going to dignify him by being on the same stage as him."

3: "You already know my positions. He should debate my VP."
Come on, man. He's been in politics for 50 years. His BFF is Barack Obama. You know his character and you know what he stands for. He's already stated that he will be a transitional president, will only serve one term, and may not even live through that one term. Don't be surprised to get hints that he is considering stepping down after two years. And if so, why shouldn't his VP debate Trump. After all, "you already know my positions. He should debate my VP."

In place of the debates, Biden will deliver a pre-recorded address to the nation. 45 minutes taken from the hours upon hours of footage, i.e. bloopers, on the cutting room floor. It will begin with a handful of introductions: Obama, Bernie, a Republican/never Trumper, and a Hollywood celebrity, and will end with a campaign-style video montage.

And there you have it. Joe Biden will not debate. Instead, he will address the nation via a pre-recorded video. If you're thinking that this won't be enough to get him across the finish line, you're right. This is simply to buy time and manipulate the optics. As for winning the election, the left has other plans for that.
